Investigation

This project was the first cooperate with NOVA Medical Equipment Co. It was also our first medical equipment project. I had told our team down to the earth. At the beginning of this project, we interviewed the general manager and the chief engineer. We had asked many questions about medical equipment workstation. They also told us the problem of their product. But we thought a comprehensive investigation is not only the manufacturers but also the user. Mostly the user`s suggestion is more important. According to the interviewee got a lot of first-hand information.

Analysis

What we should do first is to understand the market positioning of this product. For NOVA Medical Equipment Co. This product positioning to the low-end market, but the annual production is about 900. The manufacturer is absolutely impossible to put into mold. The picture was marked. It shows the problems of their old product. The size and the layout are the main problem of this product, the styling is poor. What we should do is to solve their problems and satisfy the function. The manufacturing technology which they used limited the styling of this product.

Exploration

For this product the layout design is the most important part. These models are in search of the layout of the product. I had exploded different kind of layout solutions. At the beginning I sketched about ten solutions. And then choose four of them.

Convergence

After the exploration, I had done four drafts. According to my project experience, it`s time to communicate with them. Then went to their company communicate with them. To my surprise, they elected two of the four and asked me to do the livery design.

Finalization

Several days later, I went to their company. They finalized the solution. The chief engineer thought the livery design is light. I was told simple is better.

Prototyping

The prototyping is made up of ABS. Though the styling of this product is sample enough ,the whole process is complex.

Final Product

This project was the first cooperate with NOVA Medical Equipment Co. It was also our first medical equipment project. I don`t think the final product is very well. But the NOVA Medical Equipment Co. Thought it`s good enough. The chief engineer thought the size and the layout is perfect. I think the final solution is not beautiful.
